Rnd 10: Sc in each st around making 5 sc around corners. Do not cut yarn.
Rnd 11 Loopy EDGING: Starting in middle sc or corner, ch 4, sk 2 sts, sc into next st. * Ch 4, sk 2 sc, sc in next st.

Now, to join these pretty squares, simply do the following:
It's easy to crochet these together since they have a loopy edge. I just start at the end attaching the yarn and then chain 3 and sc it to the same loop on the other square. Ch 3 again, and sc onto the 2nd loop on the first square and so on and so on to the end of the square. I make strips like that, then crochet them together the same way.
You can do that with granny squares too, just going from open space to open space on the squares.
