هناك العديد من الاخطاء الشائعة Common Mistakes عند ترجمة بعض المفردات من والى اي لغة وذلك لتأثر المترجم باللغة الأم , ولتفادي مثل هذه الاخطاء يجب التقلم مع الكيفية التي اعتاد المتحدثون باللغة المترجم اليها استخدام مفرداتهم
وهناك العديد من الكتب في هذا المجال من اشهرها Common Mistakes من LONGMAN

يصحّ أن نقول (I say my prayers) إذا كان المقصود بـ(prayers) هو "الدعاء" وليس "الصلاة"، وهذا ما تعنيه كلمة (prayers) أصلا إذا وردت في صيغة الجمع. وللعلم فإن المسيحيين الملتزمين (say their prayers) قبل أن يأووا إلى الفراش.
أما نحن المسلمين فـ"نصلـّي" بالعربي -والحمد لله- ونـ"perform" صلاتنا بالإنجليزي إذا كنّا في بلاد "آل إنجلس وآل سكسون". وهي الكلمة الإنجليزية الأقرب إلى المعنى المقصود رغم أنها لا تف بالمعنى المطلوب، بل انها قد توحي بأن الصلاة عملية "مسرحية أدائية" (انظر معاني هذه الكلمة الإنجليزية).
وأرى من الأفضل للمسلم الناطق بالإنجليزية أن يقول (I'm going to pray Fajr, Dhuhr, etc). والله أعلم
